About Me

Blacksburg, Virginia, United States
My name is Lily Sophia Moore, I am from Haiti. I was born on March 23rd and weighed almost 4 pounds. I temporarily live in Haiti until my mommy and daddy come to get me. Unfortunately, there is a lot of paperwork associated with the adoption process, so it is taking longer than our family would like for me to get to the States. As soon as I am able to , I will be living in Virginia. I really can't wait 'cause it is really hot in Haiti, and I want to be with my mommy and daddy. You can post messages on this site any time you want, I will continue to ask mommy and daddy to post pictures and updates of the adoption progress as well.

Mommy & Daddy's Abbreviated Paperwork Progress Report/Timeline

  • 8/4 We received photos of Lily today from Loune- the first we have received since she moved to PaP and she is so cute! Two photos are in the bouncy seat we sent through Loune's cousin who lives in MA and was going to PaP. The other photo is our favorite so far- Lily in her "the lily moore band" onesie not so happy! She has great emotion and we love her beautiful eyes and Haitian features. She is so beautiful...her daddy is already planning how to keep the boys away!!!
  • 8/3 Anecelis from USCIS emailed that a call for evidence will be mailed to us on Monday!! A what? At this point we are confident we can produce any paperwork they may ask for...after all we have copies and a file and so on!!!! It is very very exciting to know that someone opened our file and it is in process- this is a great sign!
  • 8/3 We bought tickets to Port au Prince! Woo Hoo!!! We will be in Haiti with Lily Sept 27th and 28th! We cannot wait!!!!!
  • 8/2 Sent original birth certificates and marriage certificates for state sealing (vital records just isn't enough for the Embassy) to Maine, California & Florida. Our certificates are not exempt from the State and US State Dept Seal! Madam Valcourt now recognizes my voice when I call the Embassy- she has been very helpful answering our questions about the sealing and translation requirements...
  • 8/2 Loune calls from PaP excited by her recent visit with Lily. She is very big- just over 9 lbs., and has changed so much since her last visit. She received the bouncy seat and clothes we sent and is happy and smiled at Loune. Loune met with Me Point du Jour and they are just waiting on all of our paperwork to arrive so the process in Haiti can begin. I updated Loune that we have about 6 more weeks left with USCIS based on their estimate of 9 weeks from the date of the fingerprinting (this is Sept. 12)...we are working on getting everything else we need translated and then sealed by the Commonwealth, US State Dept and Haitian Embassy....then we will be good to go!! USCIS is SLOW!!!! But, it is all worth it and their turtle speed is giving us a chance to notarize, re-notarize, check mistakes, etc. Nevertheless, Loune is very excited and encouraged us to come visit. She found out that we only need one visit with the attorney when it is time for Lily to come home, so we do not have to worry about an extra visit!
  • 8/1 We meet with translators, Greg & Julian, to go over our translation needs.
  • 7/29 Tim's sister Kursti hosted a baby shower for Lily in Chesapeake! Lily received cute outfits, a potty seat, tummy time mat and some bath accessories. Anna, Emma, Ava and Nora made her letters for her room- they look great above her crib!!
  • 7/23 Message from Mona via Loune on Lily: 4kg 300, 5 bottles of Enfamil and a veggie puree!!! She is growing so fast!!!
  • 7/14 We painted Elizabeth's childhood dresser for Lily! The base is white, like it was back in '77, but the drawers are different bright colors to match Lily's bright nursery- lime, hot pink, turquoise, yellow and purple!!!!
  • 7/11 Tim is fingerprinted in WV- so in 9 weeks we should be good to go with USCIS!!!
  • 7/10 We receive a photo of Anne-Marie's girls in dresses we sent from Virginia- they are so beautiful!!!
  • 7/5 Lily has an appointment with a pediatrician in PaP and is healthy!!! This is great news for us! We discuss mailing options for diapers in formula. In discussion we learn that with shipping and the exchange rate, it is less expensive to send money- Lily is using lots of diapers!!!
  • 7/4 Lily's first smile!!! She flies from Port au Paix to Port au Prince with Jude, she is now with Mona and Innocente, Loune's cousins. She will be close to the pediatrician, attorney and government offices for paperwork reasons.

  • 6/5 Go to Christiansburg, Richmond and DC for proper sealing of our Power of Attorney Mandate. It was quite an adventure. Anna drove with Elizabeth while Tim was busy at the courthouse and fed-exing documents. Lesson learned: the dates and order of seals are incredibly important!!!! The Haitian Embassy was great- we received a new list of paperwork that we need with good instructions and an understanding of how to seal everything that has a signature.
